Sarah Andrekovich '13 is from Reston, VA. She is in the McIntire School of Commerce and is concentrating in Finance and Management. At UVA, she is involved in Phi Sigma Pi Honor Fraternity, SEED and CIO Consultants. In the past summers, she has interned for NJ State Senator Robert Menendez on Capitol Hill and for UBS Investment Bank. This upcoming summer she plans to return to UBS for its Wealth Management internship. Her interests also include reading, running, traveling, and spending time with her friends.
Rachel Blank '12 is a third year in the McIntire School of Commerce, concentrating in finance and accounting, with a minor in foreign affairs. She is from Potomac, Maryland. At UVA Rachel is also a counselor for the University Judiciary Committee and a research assistant in the UVA experimental economics lab. Her interests include running, dancing, reading, and film. She is excited to join Morgan Stanley this summer as a summer analyst.
Alexis He '12 is a Finance and IT concentrator at the McIntire School of Commerce, with a minor in Art History. She came into touch with “value investing” through a course on topic based on Graham's book, The Intelligent Investor. Since then, she has been an active member of the student-run fund McIntire Investment Institute, and has pitched and covered various original ideas and positions. On campus, she has also held executive positions in Mahogany Dance Troupe, WUVA 92.7 Kiss FM, and is a member of McIntire Sales and Trading Group and Sigma Sigma Sigma National Sorority. Her “other” big passion is dancing, and she is currently a co-owner of a dance studio business in China. Her diverse interests also range from music, arts to various sports. Alexis will be pursuing Sales and Trading at Goldman Sachs this summer.
Xiaoxiao Lin '13 is a sophomore at the University of Virginia’s College of Arts and Sciences majoring in mathematics and economics. She grew up in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. and enjoys hiking, gardening, and graphic designing in her spare time. At UVA, Xiaoxiao serves as an Honor counsel and a member of both the Alternative Investment Fund at McIntire and the McIntire Investment Institute. Additionally, she is Editor-in-Chief of UVA’s pre-law publication, Under Oath. She is particularly fascinated by behavioral finance and hopes to prepare a thesis in this field. This summer, Xiaoxiao is backpacking across Western Europe and, tentatively, Colombia as well.
Solome Tuwafie '12 is a third year Ethiopian-American student at the University of Virginia, double majoring in Foreign Affairs and African Studies. Initially, her sincere interest in Finance was sparked by the 2008 global economic crisis. Thereafter, she’s catered her politics degree to track government policies and regulations in real time quotes. Aside from her studies, Solome is very active on grounds. She is the Financial Officer of the Organization of African Students, and she serves as the market research analyst for the local radio station “WUVA 92.7 Kiss FM”.
In addition, she is a member of the McIntire Sales and Trading Group, where she trades bonds and stocks on a trading simulator to learn about market nuances. This summer she will be interning at Heidrick & Struggles, a leadership advisory consulting firm, as a research analyst. Looking forward, Solome intends to pursue a career in the Financial Services industry. Through Smart Women Securities she hopes to personally change the industry by engaging and empowering women to make educated investments and learn how to manage their personal wealth.
Chuhan Wang '13 (chapter lead) was born and raised in Beijing, China before she moved to the U.S. for college education. She is a student in the College of Arts and Sciences pursuing double major in Economics and Drama, and will be going to the McIntire School of Commerce this fall. At the University of Virginia, she serves as a manager of the McIntire Investment Institute, one of the largest student-run long/short equity funds in the nation with a portfolio currently valued at $450,000 under management.
She is also actively involved in the Honor Committee, the Jefferson Literary and Debating Society, and the Admission Office. In her spare time, she enjoys performing theatre pieces, cooking Chinese dishes and traveling with family and friends. This summer Chuhan will be interning with Bank of America Merrill Lynch (New York) in the Investment Banking Division.
