Katie Costello '12 (chapter lead) is a Finance and International Business double major in the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University. Before matriculating at Georgetown, Katie attended Phillips Academy in Andover, MA. For several years, Katie has served as a Team Captain for the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life. While studying at Georgetown, Katie has had internships with Merrill Lynch and Ameriprise Financial.  She enjoys running, skiing, volunteering, watching baseball, and spending time with her family.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Kristen Focella '12 is a Finance and Operations double major at Georgetown University in the McDonough School of Business.  In the fall semester of her junior year, Kristen had the opportunity to study business at the University College of Dublin School of Commerce.  Kristen currently works as an Audio Visual Consultant at the Business Technology Center at Georgetown.  During the spring of 2011, she will complete an internship as an Information Specialist with the American Public Power Association.  As a sophomore, Kristen was also a Junior Financial Analyst for Sirius XM Radio Inc. in New York.  Kristen hopes to use her experience in the financial services industry to contribute to Smart Woman Securities and its success at Georgetown.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Christa Johnson '12 is a Russian major in the College of Arts and Sciences at Georgetown University.  Christa is also completing a Business minor in the McDonough School of Business.  She graduated from Berwick Area High School in Pennsylvania in 2008.  Before becoming involved with Smart Woman Securities at Georgetown, Christa spent a semester studying abroad in Russia.  She has also served on the Marketing Committee for Georgetown’s Relay For Life, and she has participated in many of Georgetown’s intramural sports.  She enjoys reading Russian literature, horseback riding, hiking, campfires with friends, and watching Dawson’s Creek.


 

 

 

 

 

Julie Kim '13 is a Finance major at Georgetown University.  She transferred from the University of Richmond and is originally from Cherry Hill, NJ.  At the University of Richmond, Julie revived a chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi, a co-ed professional business fraternity.  On campus, in addition to being a founding member of the Georgetown Chapter of Smart Woman Securities, she is now heavily involved with Georgetown’s chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi.  In her free time, Julie enjoys baking, attempting to cook, making crafts, spending time with her family and friends, and playing basketball.  Her lifelong ambitions are to start her own business one day and to go skydiving!

 

 

 


 

 

Sonal Somaiya '14 is a student in the Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. Prior to Georgetown, she attended the Lawrenceville School in New Jersey where she was the Arts Representative on the Student Council, served as president of the Dance Club, organized a large community service trip to India for herself and her peers, and captained the tennis team. Besides being on the Founding Board of SWS at Georgetown, Sonal is involved in the Compass Fellows, a social entrepreneurship program that will culminate in her starting her own sustainable business next fall. She was also recently accepted as a Carroll Fellow and as a member of the Tocqueville Forum on Democracy. She is a member of GU Jawani, Georgetown’s South Asian bhangra dance team and also plays club tennis. In her spare time, Sonal enjoys all kinds of dancing, from ballet and jazz to classical Indian dance, transposing popular songs on the piano, and running. Interestingly, Sonal can speak Spanish, Hindi, and Gujurati, and she hopes to use her language skills throughout her career.
