Warren Buffett Trip | Feedback from the Trip | Back

what did you think of the Trip overall?

  • “It was a great learning experience, well-organized, and packed with a lot of activities.  It was good to have the opportunity to talk with business leaders over dinner and to spend so much time with Mr. Buffett.  It was also a great chance to meet a lot of different people from Harvard on the trip.”
  • “The trip was extraordinarily well-organized and informative.  I left feeling inspired to get more involved in the business world.”
  • “ It was great.  Everything was well organized, the buses and their service to the casino/hotel were great, the food was great, the people were great...”
  • “The trip was extremely well planned, and I enjoyed the variety of events we had.  I was impressed with how we got everywhere on time and as a group were very professional.  It was great to meet so many different leaders in Omaha and to be able to converse with them on a personal level.”
  • “The trip was great in that it was action-packed.  We got to hear from multiple speakers and received a ton of information.  I felt like it was a fun and productive trip.”
  • “Very good, something I'd definitely repeat.”

what were your impressions of Omaha?

  • “I found Omaha a lot more urban than I initially pictured.  I wish I had more of a chance to explore the Old Market and other local attractions (like the zoo).”
  • “I like Omaha alot.  Much of my enjoyment stemmed from the fact that culturally, the people are like where I grew up in West Texas.  They live a less hectic life than I think one encounters on the East Coast.  The people are also wonderful hosts, very hospitable.  As for the town it was larger than I originally thought and I was surprised at how spread out the town was.”
  • “Omaha was a lot different from what I expected.  I thought it was going to be much smaller, less city-like and smaller buildings.  The city was amazingly clean, and the downtown area was a lot of fun.”
  • “Super-friendly!  I definitely liked it.”
  • “Most people from the east coast think that Omaha = middle of nowhere.  Seeing the skyscrapers of downtown made it clear that this wasn't the case.   Omaha was quite the city.  But I was most impressed by how friendly everyone seemed to be: not just the official guests, but even those going about their daily lives.  I talked at length with a Chinese restaurant owner, for instance.”

what were your favorite parts of the Trip?  why?

  • “Getting to spend time with friends in the city and talk about what they thought of the trip.  It was nice to get away from school for a weekend and meet interesting people.”
  • “My favorite part of the trip was getting the chance to listen to Mr. Buffett.  It was wonderful to here him speak, not many people get the opportunity to do so.  I liked how he was very 'down-to-earth,' and seemed to be a normal person.”
  • “Buffett and Gallup - relatable to us as students and we learned something new!”
  • “I loved Borsheim's because I'm personally interested in the jewelry retailing industry.”
  • “I really liked the two interactions we got with Mr. Buffett, and the dinner with the guests from Omaha . . . I'll treasure my personal photo with him--incredible that he'd take the time to do that . . .”
  • “I liked going to Gallup and learning about how they capitalize on employees' strengths.  My favorite speaker was Bob Batt of Nebraska Furniture Mart because it was interesting to hear how he and his family made the business so successful.”
  • “I enjoyed the dinner at Rick's Cafe because we had a chance to speak with a variety of leaders informally and about anything we chose.  I sat with Donna Kush and we talked about everything from women in the workplace, to family, to religious views and marriage.  It was really inspiring.”
  • “I really liked the cocktail hour before dinner on Thursday.  I learned so much about business from the informal conversations that I had.”
  • “Head of the chamber of commerce. Spoke about a wide range of topics and was knowledgeable on them all.”
  • “When else can you get away from the super-competitive environment and just hang out like normal people?”
